IPYPIASM: Mothers of Invention

Who?

In case you've yet to embrace the phenomenon that is International Put Your Poem In A Shop Month, it was the brainchild of Various Cushions (here: http://variouscushions.blogspot.com/ )
And here's her why:
I think December is possibly the most hassly month of the year in terms of time spent in shops, queuing in said shops, and the amount of money handed over in said shops, making it overall a kind of stressful experience, thought it would be nice to have a little pressie for shop goers, and reason to make your own visit to the shop more artistically satisfying not to mention more exciting.

2011 is IPYPIASM's fourth year, it has now achieved festival status, and poems are appearing in shops across two continents. It must be emphasized that is it not, repeat not, a competition.

Well, I was wandering about today and who should I bump into? Only three poets of some renown.

Under a Christmas tree, bizarrely enough.

From the left we have
Jean Atkin (here: http://thedogdaysofdumfriesshire.blogspot.com/ )
Carolyn Yates
Vivien Jones (here: http://www.vivienjones.info/ )

Even more bizarrely, they happened to have some poems on them.

Well, it would have been churlish not to utilise them for the good of the shoppers of Dumfriesshire...

And how about winner Dave King? Is he up to the challenge as well? :)

Good golly, I'd like to see that!

So it doesn't have, strictly, to be your own poem?

Well done to the three wandering poets for joining in the festive fun and helping to spread the word! No rhyming Christmas and isthmus here - must be something in the water in Dumfriesshire. Four top quality IPYPIASMs.

Well done indeed.
What a great amount of interesting, fabulous writers with the most fun ideas you have living in your area. Must be the weather that inspires you all to write and create.

cheers, parsnip

Eryl: good grief no! Actually, I don't think there are any rules.

Peter: cheers! I think these three are so new to the event they are yet to consider rhyming shoes with Choos.
And if only I could have found a fishmongers I'd have equalised.

parsnip: thank you. And by 'weather' do you mean we have to stay indoors a lot and find ways to amuse ourselves?

Niamh: all your work!
I have always wondered just who buys earmuffs.

Great! I'll have to get out there again. I've been in loads of shops this week - and only thought about it afterwards in each case! I could have put England in the lead!

Gnashing my teeth here - I have a feeling I'll be wondering through some shops this weekend. But it will just be my own sorry stuff instead of masterpieces like these :)

What a great trio to have on board! Lucky encounter for this project. You're all doing such a great job, irrespective of country ........but especially Scotland! ;-)

Excellent idea!

Bug, Fiona, Poet: many thanks. And Bug, we need more from you! Poet: go for it! Fiona: er, do you have any shops...?

Fiona said...

Shops - up here! Aye right! Nope, not even the many travelling vans of my younger days. The 'midnight grocer' is the one that really sticks in my mind. I'm writing poems about him and others now. How life has changed in my lifetime in the hills. Should I pin poems to the farm gate but that would probably bring unwelcome visitors?!
